Call for photographs

Do you have any old photographs, film footage, or artefacts that tell the story of the Vietnamese migrants following the end of the Vietnam War in 1975?

If so, we would love to hear from you.

We are interested in photographs and old film footage that can potentially be edited into our final production that tell the compelling stories of Vietnamese migration. There is something extremely powerful about old family photographs and films. We are particularly interested in material illustrating:

  • Life in Saigon in the 1970s i.e., before the end of the war in 1975

  • 29 and 30 April 1975 in Saigon and events leading up to those dates (the Fall of Saigon, Operation Frequent Wind, the Northern advance into the South and Saigon)

  • Migrant journeys from Vietnam e.g., of boat people, refugee camps, other ways of leaving, etc.

  • Operation Babylift and the international adoptees

  • Welcome camps and Vietnamese migrants' early life in their settlement countries

  • Gaining citizenship

  • Building new lives through educational success, careers and setting up family businesses, etc.

  • Life today across the generations
